Augmentation of 19 nine car services to 12-car services from 11.10.2011

Central Railway will augment Nineteen 9-car services to 12-car services with effect from 11.10.2011. With this, the number of 12-car services run daily o­n Central Railway main line will increase from 710 to 729 and the total number of 12-car services will increase from 838 to 857.

CAPACITY AUGMENTATION o­n CR FROM 2008-09 TILL DATE

 During the last 3 years, CR has tremendously increased its carrying capacity. CR has increased the services from 1410 in 2008-09 to 1573 at present (around 11.5% increase). The No. of coaches in service have increased from 13998 in 2008-09 to 16728 at present (around 20% increase).

Central Railway is now running 1573 daily suburban trains in Mumbai by utilising 117 rakes. CR runs 785 main line services per day, out of which 729 services will run as 12 coach trains from 11.10.2011.
