Description
National Family Benefit Scheme (NFBS) is implemented by the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India to assist the families living under Below the Poverty Line. The financial assistance is given to the family on the death of the breadwinner in the family. The death of such primary breadwinner should have occurred whilst he or she is 18 to 64 years of age. The amount of assistance is Rs. 10,000.

Eligibility criteria
The Below the Poverty Line (BPL) family which has lost its only breadwinner, and meets the other criterion formed by the government.
How to Avail
The Gram Panchayat and Municipalities are required to identify the eligible beneficiaries under the scheme.
