How to apply for passport?

1. Get the Passport Application Form: One can apply for Passport through Online Registration, (after doing online registration, get print outs of the application form) click here for details for Online Registration. Apart from this applicant can submit directly in the respective passport office/ DPCs/Speed post centers, get the relevant application form from here.

2. How to fill the Form: The Passport Application Form is Machine Readable. Please follow the instructions as follows:

Use capital letters only. Particulars given in the form will be printed in the passport. Therefore, please be careful in filling up the form and avoid any mistakes.
Use black/blue ball pen only
Do not fill the form with pencils or ink-pen.
While filling up the boxes, kindly leave one box blank after each completed word.
Write clearly within the box without touching the boundaries.
Adjust the information to fit within the number of given boxes.
Do not write anything outside the box. Avoid over-writing
Incomplete application will not be accepted.

Note: All original documents are to be shown at the time of submission of the passport application form. With the Original Passport Application Form, self-attested copies of all required documents need to be attached. Illiterate applicants should put only thumb impression in the box meant for thumb impression/signature. In case an applicant has stayed at more than one address during the last one year, he/she should furnish two additional photocopies of the PP form for each additional place of stay.

3. Where to Apply : For Online Registration, the applicant has to submit the print outs of the application form along with required documents to the respective passport office in the appointment date and time printed. Apart from this Passport Applications can be submitted at

## For Hyderabad Applicants: You may submit this application on any working day after T+1 (where T= date of online registration) at the Passport Office between 1000 – 1200 hrs or at any designated E-seva centre between 0800-2000 hrs. Please note that acceptance of applications at the Passport Office is subject to a maximum of 300 Tatkaal + 100 ordinary applications per day on a first-cum-first served basis.

1- You can apply on line for a fresh passport (if you have never possessed a passport earlier), re-issue of passport (if your present passport of 10 years validity has expired or will expire in next 12 months), duplicate passport (if your present passport is lost or damaged).

2- Only the residents falling under the jurisdiction of the respective Passport offices are eligible to apply on-line through this website.

3- Through this site you can register your application with the respective Passport offices. After registration, the system will ask you to Open / Save your application form. After Open / Save, please print the application form. (If you are not able to print the application form for any reason, you must note down the application number. With the help of this application number and date of birth you can re-print the application form later. You can also print the application if you have Saved the application.) There are still some columns in the application form which you will have to fill by hand. You will have to visit Passport office to submit the completed application form along with fee, supporting documents such as date of birth certificate etc. on the appointed day and time. The date and time of appointment at Passport office will be informed by the on-line system and will also be printed on the application form.

4- Please visit Passport office on the appointed date and time. You should arrive at RPO about 15 minutes before the appointed time and proceed to the respective counter. On line applicants do not need to obtain a token number for submitting their applications. You will not have to wait long in the queue.

5- Before you register your application on-line, please read the information on the website of respective Passport office(passport.gov.in) carefully, particularly regarding fee structure, instructions to fill Form No. 1 and How to Apply. Through this information, you will know the documents required, number of copies of application form required etc. Apply on-line only if you are sure that you will be able to produce all the necessary documents on the date of appointment.

6- If for any reason you are late in reaching Passport office on the day of appointment, we will try our best to accommodate you on the same day as soon as a slot in the queue becomes available.

A. What is Census? How is it useful?

The Indian Census is the most credible source of information on Demography (Population characteristics), Economic Activity, Literacy & Education, Housing & Household Amenities, Urbanization, Fertility and Mortality, Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, Language, Religion, Migration, Disability and many other socio-cultural and demographic data since 1872. Census 2011 will be the 15th National Census of the country. This is the only source of primary data at village, town and ward level. It provides valuable information for planning and formulation of polices for Central & State Governments and is widely used by National & International agencies, scholars, business people, industrialists, and many more. The delimitation/reservation of Constituencies – Parliamentary/Assembly/Panchayats and other Local Bodies is also done on the basis of the demographic data thrown up by the Census. Census is the basis for reviewing the country’s progress in the past decade, monitoring the on-going schemes of the Government and most importantly, plan for the future. That is why the slogan of Census 2011 is “Our Census, Our Future“.

B. What is the National Population Register? What is its use?

The NPR would be a Register of usual residents of the country. The NPR will be a comprehensive identity database that would help in better targeting of the benefits and services under the Government schemes/programmes, improve planning and help strengthen security of the country. This is being done for the first time in the country.

C. How will both these exercises be conducted?

The Census is a statutory exercise conducted under the provisions of the Census Act 1948 and Rules made there under. The NPR is being created under the provisions of the Citizenship Act and Rules.

Census Process:

The Census process involves visiting each and every household and gathering particulars by asking questions and filling up Census Forms. The information collected about individuals is kept absolutely confidential. In fact this information is not accessible even to Courts of law. After the field work is over the forms are transported to data processing centres located at 15 cities across the country. The data processing will be done using sophisticated software called Intelligent Character Recognition Software (ICR). This technology was pioneered by India in Census 2001 has become the benchmark for Censuses all around the globe. This involves the scanning of the Census Forms at high speed and extracting the data automatically using computer software. This revolutionary technology has enabled the processing of the voluminous data in a very short time and saving a huge amount of manual labour and cost.

NPR Process:

Details such as Name, Date of Birth, Sex, Present Address, Permanent Address, Names of Father, Mother and Spouse etc will be gathered by visiting each and every household. All usual residents will be eligible to be included irrespective of their Nationality. Each and every household will be given an Acknowledgement Slip at the time of enumeration. The data will then be entered into computers in the local language of the State as well as in English. Once this database has been created, biometrics such as photograph, 10 fingerprints and probably Iris information will be added for all persons aged 15 years and above. This will be done by arranging camps at every village and at the ward level in every town. Each household will be required to bring the Acknowledgement Slip to such camps. Those who miss these camps will be given the opportunity to present themselves at permanent NPR Centres to be set up at the Tehsil/Town level. In the next step, data will be printed out and displayed at prominent places within the village and ward for the public to see. Objections will be sought and registered at this stage. Each of these objections will then be enquired into by the local Revenue Department Officer and a proper disposal given in writing. Persons aggrieved by such order have a right of appeal to the Tehsildar and then to the District Collector. Once this process is over, the lists will be placed in the Gram Sabha in villages and the Ward Committee in towns. Claims and Objections will be received at this stage also and dealt with in the same manner described above. The Gram Sabha/Ward Committee has to give its clearance or objection within a fixed period of time after which it will be deemed that the lists have been cleared. The lists thus authenticated will then be sent to the Unique Identity Authority of India (UIDAI) for de-duplication and issue of UID Numbers. All duplicates will be eliminated at this stage based on comparison of biometrics. Unique ID numbers will also be generated for every person. The cleaned database along with the UID Number will then be sent back to the Office of the Registrar General and Census Commissioner, India (ORG&CCI) and would form the National Population Register. As the UID system works on the basis of biometric de-duplication, in the case of persons of age 15 years and above (for whom biometrics is available), the UID Number will be available for each individual. For those below the age of 15 years (for whom biometrics is not available), the UID Number will be linked to the parent or guardian.

D. Will an Identity Card be given?

The National Population Register would have the data of every person enumerated during the Census operations irrespective of age. It would also have the biometric data and UID Number of every person of age 15 years and above. National Identity Cards will be given in a phased manner to all usual residents by the Office of the Registrar General and Census Commissioner, India. The issue of Cards will be done in Coastal Villages to start with. After this the coastal Towns will be covered and so on till the entire country is covered.

E. Who will collect the Information?

Government servants duly appointed as Enumerators will visit each and every house and collect the information required. They will carry an Identity Card as well as an Appointment Letter. In case of need you may ask them to show these documents. The local Tahsildar can also be contacted in this regard.

F. What information will be collected?

Two Forms will be canvassed in each household. The first relates to the Houselisting and Housing Census. In this, 35 questions relating to Building material, Use of Houses, Drinking water, Availability and type of latrines, Electricity, possession of assets etc. will be canvassed.

The second form relates to the National Population Register. In this the following will be canvassed:

* Duration of stay at Present Address

G. Will my Information be disclosed to anybody?

All information collected under the Census is confidential and will not be shared with any agency – Government or private. Certain information collected under the NPR will be published in the local areas for public scrutiny and invitation of objections. This is in the nature of the electoral roll or the telephone directory. After the NPR has been finalised, the database will be used only within the Government.

H. How will I know that Census is being conducted?

Advertisements will be published in local Newspapers and in the radio/electronic media. Apart from this, the Census enumerators will be visiting your house in person. They will be affixing small Census stickers on the doorway of houses in which Census has been completed. These will indicate that they have commenced operations in your area.

I. Whom do I contact in case my house is not covered?

The local Tehsildar/Ward Officer of your area is the designated officer. In case of need you can also contact the Collector/DC/DM of your District or the Commissioner of your Town. You can also intimate us over e mail or contact us over the toll free number given in this website.

J. How do I ensure that the information given by me is being correctly entered?

The NPR form has to be signed by you. In case you require, ask the Enumerator to read it out to you and then affix your signature/thumb impression. In any case do ascertain that the details are correctly entered.

K. Do I need to show any documents to the enumerator?

The enumerator will take down all particulars as given by you. You are not required to show any proof. However, be cautioned that it is expected that you will provide correct and authentic information. You are also signing to this effect. The provision of false information can invite penalties under the Census and Citizenship Acts.

L. What is the Link between NPR and Unique ID Authority of India (UIDAI)?

The data collected in the NPR will be subjected to de-duplication by the UIDAI. After de-duplication, the UIDAI will issue a UID Number. This UID Number will be part of the NPR and the NPR Cards will bear this UID Number. The maintenance of the NPR database and updating subsequently will be done by the Office of Registrar General and Census Commissioner, India.

M. How people working abroad will be registered in National Population
Register?

This is a Register of Usual Residents. If a person is staying at a particular place in India for 6 months in the past one-year or intends to stay there(in India) for at least 6 months in the future, they will be covered. If you are not a usual resident you will not be included in the NPR.

N. Can I send my census/NPR information electronically ?

No, however you can download blank schedules from census website from schedule section and keep the information ready. This may help Enumerators when he/she will come to your place for collecting/recording the information in the actual schedules especially designed for the census/NPR.

Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme (IGNWPS) is implemented by Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India. The pension is given to the widows aged between 45 and 64 years of age. The applicant should be a household below the Poverty Line as per criteria prescribed by the Government of India. The pension amount is Rs. 200 per month per beneficiary and the concerned state government is also urged to provide the equal amount to the person. The pension is to be credited into a post office or public sector bank account of the beneficiary. The pension will be discontinued if there is the case of remarriage or once the widow moves above the poverty line.

Eligibility criteria : The age of the widows should be between 45-64 years and should be Below the Poverty Line.

How to Avail
The Gram Panchayats/Municipalities are expected to identify the beneficiaries under the scheme. The number of eligible beneficiaries is determined according to the field report of all the beneficiaries who satisfy the eligibility criteria. The state and Union Territories are required to furnish a certificate that all eligible widows have been covered under the scheme.

Eligibility criteria

(i) Students should belong to Scheduled Castes (SC) or Scheduled Tribe(ST).

(ii) Family income of the students from all sources should not be more than Rs. 1.00 lakh in the preceding financial year.

(iii) There shall be separate awards for SCs and STs.

(iv)The student should have appeared in any of the recognized State/Central Board of Secondary Education and scored not less than 50% marks in the aggregate in the Secondary Certificate Examination.

How to Avail

The Board/ Council conducting the examination shall send details of the students (name, address, family income, percentage of mark, school last attended, nearest bank etc.) in the format given as Annexure-II to the Ambedkar Foundation within 15 days of announcement of the examination results, with copy of the Secretary, Education, Department of the concerned State Government. For the purpose of family income, a certificate given by the father/guardian of the child or Principal of the School attended will suffice. The information should be duly authenticated by the Secretary of the Board/ Council. The State Government shall verify and forward the list to the Foundation within the next 15 days, provided that if details are not received from the State Government within the Scheduled time, action will be taken based on the details received from the Board/ Council.

6. NO.OF SCHOLARSHIP

6.1 The Ambedkar National Merit Scholarship will be given to three students scoring highest marks in the regular Class X level examination

conducted by the Education Board/Council. This will be separate for Scheduled casts and Scheduled Tribes. In case none of the first three eligible students are girls, the girl student scoring the highest marks will get a special award.

6.2 Thus, there shall be four awards for each of the 26 Boards for SC i.e. 104 awards and likewise another 104 awards for STs. In case more than one student scoring the same marks, the number of awards would be accordingly increased for covering all such eligible students.

6.3 Keeping in view the SC & ST population of the country as per 1991 census, 250 no. of special merit scholarship @ Rs.10,000/- each will be given to SC/ST students securing next highest marks, after first, second and third position. This will be in addition to the awards indicated at para 2 above. The break up of these 250 awards is given in Annexure II.

7. AMOUNT OF SCHOLARSHIP

The scholarship will be given as one-time grant as per the following norms: -

I.	Student securing highest marks	Rs.60, 000/-
II.	Student securing 2^nd highest marks	Rs.50, 000/-
III.	Student securing 3^rd highest marks	Rs.40, 000/-
IV.	Girl student securing highest marks (In case she is not in the above three categories)	Rs.40, 000/-
Total		Rs.1,90,000/-(Per Board/Council)

This award amount will be payable over and above any other scholarship/award; the student may receiving from other sources.

9. MODE OF SELECTION

DISBURSEMENT

10. The proposal received from the recognized Board/ Council shall be processed in the Foundation and the Award amount shall be sent to the student awardees directly in the form of an Account Payee Bank Draft by registered post under intimation to the Board/ Council and the educational institution last attended. The student awardees will be encouraged to keep the amount in fixed deposit and avail the interest accrued thereon, provided that there will be no bar for utilizing the amount for meeting personal educational health related expenditure.

11. Student awardees securing first, second, third and the girl student securing highest mark in each of the 26 boards/councils may either be invited to the Dr. Ambedkar Foundation, New Delhi for a felicitation each year or Foundation may send the awards to the student awardees through the respective District Magistrate/ Deputy Commissioners as per the convenience. In case the Foundation invites the students, the awardee and one escort will be paid actual fare by sleeper class train/bus from their place of study or from their hometown (both ways). A sum of Rs.2.08 lakh (@ Rs.1000/- (for awardee and escort on an average) will be spent for the purpose.

12. The scheme will have a total financial implication of Rs.125.88 lakhs per annum. It will benefit 458 students all over the country directly and will be of considerable indirect benefit to the students belonging to weaker sections by recognition of merit and academic excellence.
