NGO Partnership System : Invite by Planning Commission of India

The Planning Commission of India invites all Voluntary Organizations (VOs)/ Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) to Sign Up on this system,which has been developed in consultation with the below mentioned Ministries/Departments/Government Bodies to facilitate VOs / NGOs during their interaction with the Government in connection with requests for Government Grants under various schemes of the below mentioned Ministries/ Departments/ Government Bodies, in the first phase.

Participating Ministries/Departments/Government Bodies:

All VOs / NGOs, are requested to Sign Up (one time) with the Portal to help create a data base of existing VOs / NGOs and to access information on various schemes of the participating Ministries/ Departments/ Government Bodies open for grants. Later you will also be able to apply online for government grants to the participating Ministries/Departments/Government Bodies and track the status of your applications through this system.

Bonanza for Bihar’s 500,000 government employees

The Bihar government Tuesday announced a bonanza for its 500,000 employees by deciding to adopt the pay-scales recommended by the Sixth Pay Commission.

The decision was taken at meeting of the state cabinet, presided over by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, at the famous tourist spot Rajgir, about 100 km from here, officials said. 

‘The state cabinet approved giving the Sixth Pay Commission pay-scale to government employees,’ they said.The arrears will be paid effective from Jan 1, 2006. 

The meeting also approved a Rs.77.67 crore drainage scheme for Rajgir.It was for the first time that the state cabinet held its meeting at Rajgir. 

‘The state cabinet meeting was held at the convention centre of the Shanti Stupa atop Gidhakuta Hills in Rajgir amid tight security,’ an official in the chief minister’s office said here.Rajgir is the home district of Nitish Kumar. In the last four years, he has announced various development projects in the district.

 In February this year, Nitish Kumar held a cabinet meeting in Barbighee village of Begusarai district.

National Children’s Science Congress starts today

apjThe 17th National Children’s Science Congress 2009 is set to begin in the Gujarat Science City in Ahmedabad on Sunday. The venue will see a convergence of around 800 child-scientists from across the country and 50,000 students from the state. The five-day national academic event will conclude on December 31. National Children’s Science Congress is initiated by the National Council of Science and Technology Communication (NCSTC) which functions under the Department of Science and Technology of the GoI.

UP govt to implement 6th Pay Commission report

Uttar Pradesh government today decided to revise the pay scale of staff of all state-owned enterprises and corporations and to provide other benfits as per the recommendations of the Sixth Pay Commission with effect from January 1, 2006. The decision will benefit about 98,000 employees and officers of public sector enterprises and corporations except energy sector undertakings, a government spokesman said here. It will entail an additional burden of Rs 305 crore annually which will be borne by the enterprises and corporations. However, the benefits of revised pay scale and other benefits will be subject to the economic capability of corporations and certain conditions, he said. “No government assistance will be provided,” the spokesman said. The government also decided to relax rules regarding payment of dearness allowance to the staff of enterprises and corporations and merge 50 per cent of the DA with the salary.

Strike, violence across India on Teachers’ Day | Six Pay Commission Aftermath

As the country marked the Teachers’ Day on Saturday, faculty members of prestigious IITs went on a hunger strike and teachers in Lucknow and Ranchi hit the streets demanding better wages suffering police lathicharge in the capital of Uttar Pradesh. The teachers of the IITs took part in a nationwide relay fast this morning demanding better salaries and allowances as part of the nationwide stir by them. Nearly 4,000 faculty members of the IITs also threatened to go on an indefinite strike to press their demands. A final decision on this would be taken when mmbers of the IIT Faculty Federation meet in Delhi tomorrow, Dr Devang Khakhar, Director, IIT-Bombay, told PTI. Ten days ago, the faculty of the elite technology institutes had taken mass casual leave and attended classes wearing black badges in protest.

Recession makes army jobs attractive

The job crunch in the market due to economic slowdown and the revised pay-scales have again encouraged youngsters to join the armed forces. In the past one week about 1,000 students have turned up seeking jobs in the Indian Army for technical posts during a recruitment drive in five city-based engineering colleges under the scheme University Entry Level.
Aporve Joshi, a third semester student, who appeared in an interview said, “In the midst of recession no other sector offers a job with good salary, job security and honor.” He feels that, “once you have joined the defence services you become immune to any financial crises at macro or micro level.”
The army officials say they have received an overwhelming response as the number of students appearing in the orientation programme increased manifold compared to other years.
“The Sixth Pay Commission, which raised the armed forces salaries have made this profession a most-sought-after among the students this year,” said Col VS Gill, member of a team to shortlist candidates for SSB final interview.
When asked, do you think that ill effects of recession on corporate and Sixth Pay Commission will encourage the students to join army, he replied “Certainly yes, the armed forces offer better future prospects then any other profession.”
