Airport Development Fee Applicable for Travel Effective 01 Dec from New Delhi Airport

As per the circular received from IGI Airport, New Delhi, airlines have levied the following tax (Airport Development Fee) on all flights departing from Delhi for travel effective 01 December 2011 regardless of the date of issuance. This tax is inclusive of 10.3% service tax.

Any passenger who has booked a ticket on or before 18th November to travel on or after 1st December needs to pay the below mentioned tax amount at the airport. For tickets booked on or after 19th November the above mentioned tax is already included in your total ticket cost.

Domestic Passengers :- INR 221 (Per Person).
International Passengers :- INR 1434 (Per Person).

In order to clear extra rush of passengers during Chhat Pooja Northern Railway has decided to run 74 trips of Chhat Special trains as per the following programme:-

04008/04007 New Delhi –Patna– New Delhi (Unreserved) Special Train

The 04008 New Delhi –Patna unreserved special train will depart from New Delhi at 2.50 p.m. from 27.10.11 to 31.10.11 ( 5 trips ) to reach Patna at 9.50 a.m. the next day.In the return direction the04007 Patna – New Delhi unreserved special will depart from Patna at 12.50 p.m. from 28.10.11 to 30.10.11, 3.11.11 and 4.11.11 ( 5 trips ) to reach New Delhi at 11.25 a.m. the next day.The special train with 16 General second class/Sleeper Class & Luggage Van coaches, will stop at Ghaziabad, Kanpur,Allahabad, Mughalsarai, Baxur,Ara andDanapur stations enroute in the both directions.

04026/04025 Delhi sarai Rohilla-Darbhanga – Delhi sarai Rohilla ( Unreserved ) Special Train

The 04026 Delhi Sarai Rohilla –Darbhanga unreserved special train will depart from Delhi Sarai Rohilla at 10.00 a.m. on 27.10.11 , 29.20.11 & 30.10.11 ( 3 trips ) to reach Darbhangaat 12.05 p.m.(noon) the next day.In the return direction the 04025 Darbhanga – Delhi Sarai Rohilla unreserved special train will depart from Darbhanga at 3.00 p.m. on 28.10.11, 30.10.11 & 2.11.11 ( 3 trips) to reach Delhi Sarai Rohilla at 4.50 p.m. the next day.The special train with sixteen General second class and 2luggage van coaches will stop at New Delhi, Ghaziabad, Moradabad, Bareilly, Sahajanpur, Sitapur Cantt, Gonda, Basti, Gorakhpur, Deoria Sadar, Siwan ,Chhapra, Sonepur, ,Hajipur, Muzaffarpur and Samastipur stations enroute in the both directions.

While in the return direction the 04001 Patna-Delhi tri weekly Superfast special will depart from Patna on every Monday, Wednesday & Saturday from 26.10.11 to 14.11.11 at 8.10 p.m. to reach Delhi at 2.15 p.m., the next day.Consisting of Sleeper Class and luggage van coaches the tri weeklysuperfast special will stop at Ghaziabad, Kanpur, Fatehpur, Allahabad, Mirzapur, Mughalsarai, Buxar, Ara, Danapur station enroute in both the directions.

The 04028 New Delhi – Lucknow special train will depart from New Delhi at 1.50 p.m. on 28.10.11 & 30.10.11 ( 2 trips ) to reach Lucknow at 10.20 p.m. the same day.In the return direction the train No. 04027 Lucknow – New Delhi special will depart from Lucknow at 5.50 a.m. on 29.10.11 & 31.10.11 ( 2 trips ) to reach New Delhi at 2.25 p.m. the same day.The special train with one Executive Class, Ten Chair Car coaches will stop at Ghaziabad, Moradabad & Bareilly stations enroute in the both directions.

04205/04206 Lucknow – Delhi – Lucknow Express Special Train

The 04205 Lucknow – Delhi special train will depart from Lucknow at 9.15 p.m. on 28.10.11 & 30.10.11 ( 2 trips ) to reach Delhi Jn. at 6.25 a.m. the next day.In the return direction the train no. 04206 Delhi – Lucknow special train will depart from Delhi Jn. at 9.15 a.m. on 29.10.11 & 31.10.11 ( 2 trips) to reach lucknow at 5.15 p.m. the same day.The special train with five 3 Tier AC, two 2 Tier AC, 4 Sleeper Class, 2 General Second and 2 brake cum luggage van coaches will stop at Bareilly, Moradabad and Ghaziabad stations enroute in the both directions.

TEMPORARY AUGMENTATION OF TRAINS To/From New Delhi

For the convenience and to clear extra rush, Railways have decided to augment temporarily the passenger carrying capacity of train as per the programme:-

The 12487/12488 Jogbani-Anand Vihar-Jogbani Seemanchal Express will be augmented by one additional sleeper class coach with immediate effect upto 18.11.2011 when departing from Jogbani & upto 20.11.2011when departing from Anand Vihar.

The 12301/12302/12305/12306 Howrah-New Delhi-HowrahRajdhani Express trains will be augmented by one additional A.C. 3 Tier coach with immediate effect upto 10.11.2011 when departing from Howrah and upto 11.11.2011 when departing from New Delhi on nominated days.

The 12273/12274Howrah-New Delhi -Howrah Duronto Express will be augmented by one additional sleeper class coach with immediate effect upto 14.11.2011 when departing from Howrah and upto 15.11.2011 when departing from New Delhi on nominated days.

The 12331/12332 Howrah-Jammu Tawi-Howrah Himgiri Express will be augmented by one additional A.C. 3 Tier coach with immediate effect upto 11.11.2011when departing from Howrah & upto 13.11.2011 when departing from Jammu Tawi on nominated days.

The 13005/13006 Howrah-Amritsar-Howrah Mail will be augmented by one additional sleeperclass coach with immediate effect upto 10.11.2011 when departing from Howrah and upto 12.11.2011 when departing from Amritsar.

The 13009/13010 Howrah-Dehradun-Howrah Doon Expresstrainwill be augmented by one additional sleeper class coach with immediate effect upto 10.11.2011 when departing from Howrah and upto 12.11.2011 when departing from Dehradun.

The 13019/13020 Howrah-Kathgodam- Howrah Express train will be augmented by one additional sleeper class coach with immediate effect upto 5.11.2011 when departing from Howrah and upto 7.11.2011 when departing from Kathgodam.

The 13151/13152 Kolkata-Jammu Tawi-Kolkata Sealdah Express train will be augmented by one additional sleeper class coach with immediate effect upto 6.11.2011 when departing from Kolkata and upto 8.11.2011 when departing from Jammu Tawi.

The 12501/12502 Guwahati-New Delhi-Guwahati Poorvotter S.K. Express train will be augmented by one additional sleeper class coach with immediate effect up to 19.11.2011 when departing from Guwahati and upto 20.11.2011 when departing from New Delhi.

The 15903/15904 Dibrugarh-Chandigarh-Dibrugarh Express train will be augmented by one additional sleeper class coach from 24.10.2011 upto 21.11.2011 when departing from Dibrugarh and from 26.10.2011 upto 23.11.2011 when departing from Chandigarh.

CWG Closing Ceremony Details | Common Wealth Games 2010

After the grand opening ceremony of Commonwealth Games it is time for the Games to get closed. The opening ceremony of CWG left the entire nation dumbstruck. The Closing Ceremony of Commonwealth Games will take place on 14th October at Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium. During the Commonwealth Games Closing Ceremony, 2010, the Commonwealth Games Ceremonial Flag will be handed over to Glasgow, which will be the next host city.

The spectators will witness ‘Vande Mataram’ to be performed by 2,010 schoolchildren at the 50-minute show.

This is not all, the closing ceremony will include songs like ‘Chak De India’ to be rendered by Sukhwinder, ‘Allah ke Bande’ by Kailash Kher and ‘Ab Ke Sawan’ by Shubha Mudgal.

400 artistes from Scotland will perform to the tunes of traditional Bagpiper music inviting all to visit Glasgow for the 2014 Games.

Bharat Bala, creative director of the event, said, “The Scottish team will perform for 10 minutes in the closing ceremony. They will showcase their traditional music and dance.”

800 artistes drawn from Kerala, Punjab, Manipur, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Tamil Nadu will perform Indian martial arts.

More Music and More Songs will be performed by various popular singers at the closing ceremony. Apart from Sukhwinder, Kailash Kher and Shubha Mudgal, Sunidhi Chauhan and Shankar Mahadevan will also perform at the show.

Tickets for the closing ceremony of the Commonwealth Games were sold out Tuesday night – nearly 48 hours before the actual event Oct 14, an official at the ticketing helpline said.

About 1,200 moving lights, 25 stacks of speakers and about 2,700 shots of fireworks spread across the roof of the Jawaharlal Nehru stadium combined with a stage weighing 500 tonnes to create a spectacular opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi on Sunday. The gigantic main stage, inspired by the ‘mandala’, a sanskrit word for the geometric designs symbolic of the universe in Hinduism and Buddhism, which is one of the largest built for an opening and closing ceremony.

The stage was built within seven days by about 500 workers. Weighing an approximately 500 tonnes. The stage is large enough to hold 500 people under it.

The opening ceremony would have never been that spectacular had it not been for the lighting arrangements. 1,200 moving lights, 120 space cannons and 16 follow spots weighing approximately 75 tonnes was what it took to enchant the about 60,000 spectators.

The 25 stacks of speakers produced 500,000 Watts of sound. If one was impressed by the fireworks, it was because of the 2,700 shots spread over 88 locations on the roof of the stadium. The crowd had erupted in joy as the firecrackers went up in air heralding the beginning of the Games.

The entire system was supported by over 50 km of power cables that were used to provide constant power for the opening ceremony.

World Book Fair | New Delhi

If you have been scrounging to read about sports but haven’t been able to lay your hands on any good book, the upcoming 19th New Delhi World Book Fair beginning Jan 30 is a must-visit.

The fair, organised by the National Book Trust (NBT), will see books on all genres and from across the world but the theme this year is “Reading for Commonwealth” in view of the Commonwealth Games in Delhi in October.

According to an official of the NBT, a total of 22 countries will participate in the fair.

“Countries like Singapore, Japan, US, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka will be among the 22 nations participating in the book fair, thereby offering a wide range of books in the fair,” an NBT official said.

The book fair will be organised at Pragati Maidan and will culminate on Feb 7.
